Experimental study of corroded RC beams: dissipation and equivalent viscous damping ratio identification

Corrosion of steel reinforcement is one the most common durability issues for reinforced concrete (RC) structures, especially when located in marine areas. The study mechanical consequences this pathology great importance to assess their performance. Experimental campaigns have been carried out on corroded structures. So far, assessing quasi-static behavior or predicting dynamic response structures based exclusively loadings. In particular, dissipated energy and damping capacity, which are important features seismic performance RC members, evaluated objective characterize these two significant engineering demand parameters (EDP) using both tests. To reach goal, an experimental campaign conducted large-scale beams. non-corroded beams subjected a four-point bending loading keeping same loadings boundary conditions. applied specimen by means AZALEE shaking table. paper, brief description made. Then, results showing influence corrosion rate dissipation capacity exposed. Especially, consistency between assessed discussed.
